We had a late start today. The Candle Factory didn't open until 10am so we had a nice sleep-in.
Shopping done and posted to Albuquerque (parcel arriving Jack, don't know when, but it should smell nice) we headed out for Washington under cloudy skies.
The way started out quite nicely with a run through the Pennsylvania countryside and lots of small towns. Very nice country.
The weather slowly closed in with showers all around, but mostly leaving us alone - for now.

Nice to see, but we still see lots of phone use in cars. |
Getting closer to Washington we were directed on to more freeways rather than country roads and the speeds increased.

Taking up a couple of lanes |
We were after a proper mount for the new GPS and had located a RAM mount dealer in Maryland which happened to be south of Washington. But we were coming in from the north. Luckily there is a circular freeway right around the city and we got on to that. On freeways you often lose track of where you are as they are usually in a corridor of trees. So it turned out we went right around the east side of the city and found the "dealer", an aviation company, at a small airport in the town of Clinton, Maryland. (they really are everywhere).

Water supply for Andrews |
While talking to the owner and arranging for him to go get the part we need from his warehouse (home), I noticed the weather radar on the PC on his desk. Rain, and lots of it, coming from the south.
So instead of waiting at the uncovered airport we moved down the road to a Millers Farm shop and were able to park the bike under cover while we had an ice cream and a coffee.
We also cling-wrapped the GPS for the coming rain. And rain it did.

Super pumper indeed. Tee Hee |
New mount picked up, we headed out in to the rain and the big city. Vehicles were splashing through big puddles everywhere and the long waits at traffic lights in pouring rain were not much fun.
Some of the freeways in the city are currently closed so we had to go through the centre, along Pennsylvania Avenue (That's where the Boss lives).
We eventually made it to our hotel and luckily they have undercover parking.
Checked in and it was time to fix the GPS mount.

Removing all the duct tape |
So we'll be here for a few days, lets hope it clears up a bit before we move on.
Cheers

ReplyDeleteShould work well for you John. It also holds my Samsung quite solidly and has nice soft rubber non-slip grips. So it won't bruise the fruit.
