Flattery Will Get You in a Corner - 217 miles

The day dawned cold and clear.  Blue sky - at last.  Still didn't get much past 60F all day but if I could find a patch of sunlight I was OK.

First thing was to check on the Ferry for tomorrow's ride to Vancouver Island.  Apparently we only have to turn up early - no booking - easy.

Then it was off to make it to the most north-westerley corner of USA.  Anyone know the name?

We made a bit of a loop of it, going past Crescent Lake once again.  What a beautiful place.  Almost impossible to take a bad picture.  We stopped at a pull-in and found a bald eagle sitting in a tree.

Getting back on the bikes, Jack's titanium unbreakable spectacles frame - broke.   Dammit.  We carried on to Forks to try to find an optometrist, but they only visit that little town on a Wednesday.  Nothing but to carry on.  But coffee first.  Into a restaurant where everyone was having breakfast.  The waitress seemed a little disappointed we only wanted coffee so to make her happy I asked if she had a cookie or similar.  "How about a cinnamon bun?" she asked.  Sounded good to us so Charleen and I ordered one each.  Well, they came out on a dinner plate each.  They were oval shape about 6"x4" and covered in honey and cream.  We were gobsmacked and the waitress looked very smug as several patrons had a good laugh.
Absolutely delicious but  Charleen just could not eat all of hers.  I did - of course.

My goodness there are some great roads up this way.  Heaps of fast corners and we were just loving it.   The GPS tried to take us on a few dirt roads but we weren't having any of that.  Too much fun on the blacktop without the trailers holding us back.

Eventually we made it to Neah Bay and got lost in their back streets.  Then finally found the road to the cape only to discover we had to walk a half mile down to the point.  Down was the operative word.  That meant we would have to walk back up.  thank goodness that cinnamon bun had given me the needed calories for the job.

The scenery at the cape was just incredible and we stayed for a while just soaking it up.  Then the slog back up to the bikes and set out to make our way back to Port Angeles.  A slightly different route all along the coast and again the roads were brilliant.   Tyres are now scrubbed all the way to the edge and there is even a little scrape under the pegs and my boots are wearing thin.  We. Had. A. Ball.

Back in Port Angeles we did a little shopping for tea and found a Vision Centre at a Wal-mart and got Jack a new frame for his specs.

All ready for our jaunt in to Canadia tomorrow.

Here's the piccies:-
