Ride, Wait, Ferry - rinse repeat - 159 miles

The day started fairly early as ourferry off the island was about an hour away. Underway at our usual 8am or so, we got there by 9am and had to wait an hour for the sailing. No worries. We polished the bikes and hung about. This was the first of three ferries for the day, from Comox to Powell River.
It was a ninety minute ride to Powell and a lovely smooth ride. Then we got off and the GPS told it was 19 miles to the next ferry to Earl Cove. Only trouble was it didn't leave for three hours. We stopped in at a nice park in a little bay and relaxed. I found some really nice oysters for lunch. We met a bloke in Powell River who owns a very nice Kawasaki 500 twin Ninja. He was fully decked out in leathers. Now, Powell River is completely cut off from the rest of the mainland by huge mountains and there are no roads. Only the ferries. So he only has the 19 miles on which to ride - which he does every day in the rather short riding season. Now that's a dedicated motorcyclist.

This next ferry was much larger and once again, all the motorcycles were put at the front. From Earl Cove we had a much longer ride to our last ferry from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay. It was a good one too, with some good hills and corners.

Langdale ferry port is huge with 26 lanes of vehicles lined up to do the crossing. The ferry is a double-decker and takes several hundred cars and trucks. We met a few other riders on the boat.

But it was getting quite late by the time we got here and so we took a motel for the night.

All in all a nice relaxing day. Here's the pick of the pics:-

First ferry, this Kenworth nuzzled up to the bikes.
And we have to be extra careful because it looks like some guy with a briefcase is pushing the kids on to the highway
Second Ferry and check out the anti-rollover blocks
Second Ferry was quite modern

Our little beach cove. Oysters strewn everywhere at low tide. Yum

Your lunch Sir
Huge waterfall seen in the distance from Ferry three

Huge mountains.
