Height of the River - 361 miles

Well I survived the night - just. A bit better this morning but I am wearing my wet weather jacket to keep the wind off.
We headed out on I-94. East.
After a nice brekky at Jamestown we did a bit more east then turned off to find the tallest structure in the US. Actually it was just a television tower but it's height is only surpassed by towers in Dubai and Russia. It towers 2063 ft above the surrounding plains.
We did a bit more east and eventually got to a bridge over a small stream.
I had to educate Jack a little about US geography, then we found the headwaters of the Mississippi River. We went to where Lake Itasca overflowes into a small stream. Then a log bridge over the stream marks the first of many many bridges crossing what will be a mighty river. Our plan is to also cross the last river bridge when we pass through Louisiana.
Then it was a short run in to Bemidji where we took a motel again - to be sure not to get too chilly.

Here's the photos:

We suspect these marks in the concrete road help keep it quieter

Just a lonely wind tower - different from other places where there are dozens

Very faithful

The base of the tallest structure in US
Hard to get the top in the photo
Jack and Linda learn geography - I have to rub it in.
Contrary to popular belief, the Mississippi begins by flowing north.

The first bridge - we're expecting the last one to be a bit larger.
