Got there early just before the rain started and it was to rain for a few hours. This caused a few events to be cancelled, but most of the show was in doors in a huge pavilion - all air conditioned.
We caught up with Paul Edwards, our friend from Seattle who recently spent a few months in Brisbane. We also bought a few things.
We even let Jack use a demo model of a tyre changer to change our front tyre. We now have a full new set for the next 10,000 or so miles. And Jack liked the machine.
Later in the day we joined with 500 or so other Goldwing riders for the Grand Parade, a ride of about 6 miles or so.
It was a very hot ride so we got ourselves a couple of large lemonades, had a chat with Paul and then retreated to our motel for a couple of cold beers and air conditioning. Being July 4th, there is quite a bit of noise outside. The locals are celebrating their national day.
Happy Birthday USA.
Here's Charleen's pics for today - beware - they are mostly GoldWings, not all though.
See, not quite a GoldWing. But a nice Valkyrie
Neither is this beautiful Indian. Check out those tassels.
The Purple Panther. Being used as a LED lights demo bike.
Trikes are fairly inexpensive here. $33,455.00 is about half what it would cost in Australia
This is a flash one. LEDs are a variety of colours
Talk about a variety of colours. Note the carry rack instead of topbox.
Another not a GoldWing. Not a bike - not really a trike, not a car. 2.3 litre Ford in the front.
Bikes with special paint jobs were aplenty
And their trailers
Jack changes our tyre
Paul shows off his "Shadow"
The onlookers were light on, but the parade was fun
Lots of 'em
Tulsa skyline for a backdrop. Site for fireworks display tonight.
If you can bear to see many more wings, check out this little movie.
Just a correction to Clint's comment on my photo. My bikes name is "Shadow". I am greyscouter. I love you guys and really hope to see you again face to face.
